Bladed Weapons of the East  

Dao is actually a generic word used to denote any member of a family of single-edged, broad-bladed cutting or slicing tools. But, these blades all have a very effective design.

Until the twentieth century, the dao continued to be used in the Chinese Army.

Blades inspired by the dao where the Persian shamshir, the Indian tulwar, the Turkish kilij, the Arabian saif, the Mamluk scimitar, and the European sabre and cutlass.
